The Opportunity

The Construction Project Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring detailed project schedules for heavy civil construction projects. This role works closely with project management, estimating, and operations teams to ensure schedules are realistic, well-coordinated, and actively managed throughout the full lifecycle of each project

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules from project award through completion

· Establish and structure Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to support accurate planning and tracking

· Build, update, and monitor project schedules, ensuring alignment with scope, sequencing, and contract requirements

· Schedule and coordinate labour, crews, and equipment across projects to support efficient execution

· Work with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to validate schedule assumptions and execution plans

· Support the execution of work planning, including sequencing, resource planning, and critical path analysis

· Regularly update schedules to reflect progress, delays, and changes, identifying risks and mitigation strategies

· Coordinate with team members to ensure adherence to schedule milestones and timelines

· Assist in developing short-term and long-term lookahead schedules to support field execution

· Collaborate with the estimating team to support bid schedules, methodologies, and production assumptions

· Support equipment and resource planning and logistics across projects

· Participate in project kickoff and ongoing progress meetings to ensure schedule alignment across stakeholders

· Provide clear reporting on schedule status, risks, and recovery plans

Experience

· Experience in scheduling within heavy civil or infrastructure construction

· Strong understanding of construction sequencing, work planning, and project execution

· Experience developing and managing schedules for complex, multi-phase projects

· Proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar) and Excel.

· Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents

· Strong coordination and communication skills across field and office teams

· Experience working with estimating teams and supporting bid development is an asset

· Knowledge of equipment and resource planning in a construction environment

Work Conditions

· The office location for this role is in Bracebridge.

· Travel to various sites may be required

Weekend and evening work may be required to meet business needs from time-to-time
