We are seeking a highly skilled and detailed Legal Assistant to join our Barrie office. This role requires an experienced litigation professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of their work. You will play a critical role in supporting lawyers with complex files, managing competing priorities, and ensuring all aspects of litigation are handled with precision and care.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare, draft, and format legal correspondence, pleadings, and court documents to a high standard

· Proactively manage limitation periods, service deadlines, and litigation timelines

· Maintain accurate, organized, and up to date electronic and physical files

· Upload and manage materials through Case Centre and liaise with court staff as required

· Manage tasks, calendars, coordinate discoveries, defence lawyer meetings and client meetings

· Arrange and confirm litigation related appointments with internal and external parties

· Assemble and quality check motion records, mediation briefs, and pretrial materials

· Process cheque requests for invoices, track disbursements and filing fees

· Manage incoming and outgoing documents including routing to the team and serving and filing court materials

· Maintain consistent communication with clients and provide high level administrative support

Qualifications and Skills

· Minimum 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk

· Strong working knowledge of civil law and Ontario court procedures

· Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

· Advanced attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment

· Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to anticipate needs

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal systems such as Case Centre, Justice Services Online Portal

Salary

$50,000 - $60,000 per year
