About The Opportunity

LRO Staffing is partnering with a well-established, healthcare organization within a dynamic, highly regulated environment to recruit a Human Resource Specialist for a full-time, permanent opportunity based in Ottawa. This onsite position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take on a strategic and operational role supporting a complex, multi-stakeholder healthcare setting.

The successful candidate will act as a key HR specialist within the organization, responsible for driving HR operations, supporting leadership with strategic initiatives, and ensuring compliance, consistency, and best practices across all HR functions. This role requires a hands-on professional who can balance day-to-day HR administration with broader organizational development, employee relations, and change management initiatives.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage day-to-day HR administrative operations, including employee records management and benefits administration
  • Oversee payroll coordination, including timesheet review, pay reconciliation, and resolution of payroll-related issues
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal HR policies
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee documentation, including job descriptions and employee handbooks
  • Support and manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and employee transitions
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and grievance management
  • Collaborate with leadership to support performance management systems, including goal setting, evaluations, and performance improvement processes
  • Contribute to HRIS optimization and process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and data integrity
  • Analyze HR metrics and reporting data to support decision-making and identify trends and opportunities
  • Support change management initiatives, including organizational restructuring and workforce planning activities
  • Contribute to employee engagement, retention, wellness, and recognition initiatives
  • Support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives across the organization
  • Assist in succession planning and talent development strategies
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary leadership teams in a highly collaborative healthcare environment

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a senior HR or HR Specialist/Manager-level role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree considered an asset)
  • CHRL, CPHR, or equivalent HR designation strongly preferred
  • Strong experience with HR operations, employee relations, recruitment, and HR policy development
  • Experience with HRIS systems (ADP, Oracle, or similar platforms) considered an asset
  • Experience in healthcare or unionized environments is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, operational environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • French language skills considered an asset

About the Job

  • Location: Ottawa, ON
  • Work Arrangement: Onsite
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary: $68,000 to $72,000 annually
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical and dental coverage (eligible after 3 months), HOOPP pension (day one eligibility), and 3 weeks’ vacation to start
