Data Engineer Tester, Hybrid - 14-month Contract - 19179
About The Opportunity
Our reputable Ottawa based client has an Immediate requirement for Data Engineer Testers. The team is working on a mix of new and existing initiatives as a result of the significant growth they are experiencing.
This is a long-term data modernization initiative where the team is looking for someone who can operate across both
Data Engineering and QA/testing. The environment is heavily focused on validating complex data transformation processes across
Azure technologies, with a strong emphasis on data integrity, reconciliation, and analytics/reporting pipelines.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Write and execute complex SQL based Test Scripts, on the Azure Databricks platform, for data warehouse/engineering processes based on documented data mapping and data transformation rules
- Lead, manage, plan, and coordinate the ETL/Data testing activities: Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test Scripts
- Record test execution results and evidence of test in Azure DevOps
- Ensure the test activities are planned and performed according to requirements and standards from the Test Center of Excellence
- Coordinate and support the business with User Acceptance Testing
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer, electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science or information systems
- 5+ years' work experience writing tests cases and tests scripts based on documented data mapping and business data transformation rules. Pyspark is a must have
- 5+ years' work experience with various types of software testing such as functional, integration, system integration, UAT, performance, etc. for data transformation processes
- Minimum 2 years work experience with Microsoft Azure data platform: Azure Databricks, SQL Databases, Azure Data Lake
- Experience with additional programming languages is an asset: Scala, Python, R, SQL, Azure functions
- Must have strong experience with requirement gathering and stakeholder management
- Experience working on large scale data analytics and HR system transformations
- Must be eligible for a Government of Canada Clearance
About the Job
Start date ASAP, Hybrid position 2 - 3 days per week onsite. Rates $50.00 to $65.00/hr + depending on experience.
