Responsibilities

The Labour Market Development Specialist plays a key role in supporting participants in a reskilling and employment program focused on Enterprise Digital Transformation with Applied AI. This program prepares participants for careers in digital transformation, AI-enabled business processes, and emerging technology roles.

This role is responsible for preparing participants for successful entry into the workforce by supporting career exploration, skill development, and job readiness. Working closely with participants and the program team, the Labour Market Development Specialist ensures training aligns with current labour market needs and that participants are equipped with the tools, confidence, and strategies needed to secure and sustain employment in technology-driven environments.

This is a full-time contract position with a hybrid work model, including a minimum of three (3) days per week on-site at YWCA Hamilton.

Career Development & Job Readiness

  • Support participants in identifying career goals and pathways aligned with enterprise digital transformation and applied AI roles
  • Deliver job readiness training tailored to tech-enabled roles, including resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies
  • Provide coaching on workplace expectations, communication, and professional skills
  • Facilitate workshops and one-on-one sessions to build employability and confidence
  • Prepare participants for transition into roles such as Digital Transformation Analyst, AI
  • Operations Support, and related positions

Training Alignment & Skill Development

  • Work closely with training providers to understand curriculum related to enterprise digital transformation and applied AI
  • Ensure participant skill development aligns with current labour market demands in AI, automation, and digital transformation
  • Identify skill gaps and provide targeted support or resources
  • Reinforce key technical and transferable skills needed in technology-enabled workplaces

Participant Support & Progress Monitoring

  • Conduct skills assessments and support individualized career planning
  • Monitor participant progress throughout training and job readiness phases
  • Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, and feedback
  • Adjust support strategies based on participant needs
  • Support participants in building confidence and overcoming employment-related barriers

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Work closely with the Client Success Coordinator to address barriers impacting participant success
  • Coordinate with the Employer Liaison to align participant readiness with job opportunities
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and program planning

Labour Market Insights & Program Development

  • Stay informed on labour market trends in digital transformation, AI, and emerging technologies
  • Integrate labour market insights into coaching and training supports
  • Support participants in understanding employer expectations in tech-driven roles
  • Provide feedback to support program design and continuous improvement

Data Tracking & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of participant progress and outcomes
  • Track job readiness milestones and training completion
  • Contribute to reporting and program evaluation
  • Use data insights to improve participant outcomes

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work environment with a minimum of three (3) days per week on-site at YWCA Hamilton
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
  • Collaborative, fast-paced environment focused on participant success

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Career Development, Social Services, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–4 years of experience in employment services, career coaching, or workforce development
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills
  • Experience supporting individuals facing barriers to employment
  • Familiarity with digital transformation, AI, or tech career pathways is an asset
  • Understanding of labour market trends and employer expectations
