ABOUT THE POSITION: School Administrative Assistants work as part of a two-person team to support students, staff, and the overall operations of the school. The anticipated start date for this position is August 25, 2026, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Training may be scheduled prior to the official start date and would be considered casual employment.
This role primarily supports the school through office administration duties. To ensure continuity of service for students, staff, and visitors, the successful candidate must demonstrate both strong administrative aptitude and a willingness to develop business and office administration technical skills over time. In addition, key competencies include resilience, adaptability, the ability to work effectively in a changing environment, capacity to manage competing priorities and setbacks, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain effective under pressure. These skills are essential in a fast-paced, service-oriented school environment.
As the first point of contact for students, parents, visitors, and community members, the School Administrative Assistant plays an important role in representing the school and supporting a positive, welcoming environment. The successful candidate will be patient, reflective, kind, and enjoy working with adolescents. They will consistently demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect in all interactions, fostering strong relationships and a welcoming school culture. Exceptional customer service, communication, and teamwork skills are essential to the collaborative and effective delivery of school services.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL: The Brooks Composite High School (BCHS) is a high school of over 700 students in grades 10-12. We offer a full range of all the academic offerings in addition to a well-respected vocational program that includes Mechanics, Construction, Cosmetology, Foods, and Digital Media. We also offer a fine arts program that includes visual arts and performing arts including Music and Drama. In addition, we are pleased to host the district Inclusive Education Program and have a large ELL program that serves the needs of many newcomers to Canada. We are also very proud of the athletic and extracurricular programs at our school. We run a number of teams and clubs that provide students a great number of opportunities to participate in the life of the school.

JOB DUTIES
- Act as a first point of contact and administrative support for BCHS students, staff, parents, and community members
- Update student attendance information in the SIS platform, as required
- Act as general PowerSchool SIS platform support, for staff and parents at the school
- Maintain, order and organize office, school, and instructional supplies
- Manage web resources including digital communications, newsletter, events, and the school calendar
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years' of office administration experience
Considered an asset but not a requirement:
- Post-secondary training, diploma or degree in a relevant field
- Familiarity with PowerSchool Student Information System would be considered an asset
- A combination of the minimum education requirements and relevant experience may be considered-
