Habitat for Humanity is a mission-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to bringing people together to build homes, community, and hope. Through affordable housing initiatives, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships, the organization works to provide safe and stable housing for families in need. The local affiliate operates both community-focused programs and a retail ReStore operation, with all proceeds supporting its housing initiatives and broader charitable impact.
The ReStore is a key social enterprise that generates unrestricted revenue while diverting reusable materials from landfill and providing affordable goods to the community.
The ReStore Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the store, with a strong focus on merchandising, sales performance, and team leadership. This is a highly hands-on role, requiring active involvement on the sales floor, in the backroom, and in donation processing.
The successful candidate will lead by example working alongside staff to transform donated goods into compelling retail displays that drive customer engagement and revenue.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
- Oversee the daily operations of the ReStore, ensuring an organized, safe, and efficient environment
- Lead, coach, and support team members while fostering a positive and productive work culture
- Plan, execute, and continuously refresh merchandising across the sales floor, side counters, and displays
- Design and build merchandising layouts from scratch without reliance on planograms
- Ensure merchandise is presented in a way that drives customer engagement and maximizes sales
- Actively participate in receiving, sorting, pricing, and preparing donations for sale
- Merchandise products onto the sales floor, including endcaps, feature displays, and side counters
- Work alongside employees across the sales floor, backroom, and processing areas
- Support the organization, rotation, and storage of inventory, including outdoor merchandise
- Oversee the intake and flow of donations to ensure timely movement from receipt to the sales floor
- Maintain strong financial oversight, including managing budgets, controlling expenses, and maintaining margins
- Drive overall store performance through effective merchandising, operations, and team execution
- Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained at all times
- Support evening and weekend operations, including regular Saturday shifts and occasional Sundays as required
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of retail management or operations leadership experience
- Proven experience in hands-on retail merchandising, with the ability to design and execute displays without planograms
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a team in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated willingness to work in a highly operational, physically active role
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing operating budgets and store performance
- Ability to maintain margins, control expenses, and drive revenue
- Strong understanding of cost control and operational efficiency
