We are currently hiring Mechanical Assemblers to join our sister company in Burnaby, BC Canada.

RIC Power Corp., is a leading manufacturer of medium and low voltage switchgear, and is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Assemblers to join our dedicated production team.

Job Summary

The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for the physical construction and assembly of our switchgear units. This hands-on role focuses on building the structural framework, mounting major components, and ensuring all mechanical aspects of the final product meet our rigorous quality standards and precise engineering specifications.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and assembly instructions to build switchgear enclosures and subassemblies.
  • Bolt, screw, rivet, and fasten parts and components together using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Precisely position and install major components, such as breakers, bus bars, transformers, and structural supports, into switchgear units.
  • Assemble and fit prefabricated metal parts to form subassemblies or finished products according to strict specifications.
  • Ensure proper alignment, fit, and function of all mechanical parts and hardware.
  • Perform quality checks on work-in-progress and finished products to ensure they meet engineering standards and tolerances.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation, minimizing scrap and rework.
  • Ad hoc duties as requested.

Requirements

Essential Skills

  • Proven proficiency with a wide range of hand and power tools (e.g., drills, impact drivers, torque wrenches, grinders, rivet guns).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality and precision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing work orders or digital drawings are an asset.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of one year of experience in a mechanical assembly or skilled manufacturing role.
  • Post-secondary education or certification from a college or technical school in a mechanical trade is preferred.
  • ASSET: Experience assembling large-scale equipment, control panels, or similar industrial products.
  • ASSET: Knowledge of different types of mechanical fasteners, hardware, and materials.
  • ASSET: Experience in a sheet metal or metal fabrication environment.
