Overview Of Role
The Fleet Strategy team leads WestJet’s long-range fleet planning, including aircraft acquisition and retirement strategy, cabin configuration analysis, and cross-functional governance. The team supports executive decision-making across all fleet programs through a structured governance model spanning weekly working teams and monthly SteerCo forums.
WestJet is seeking a Senior Analyst to act as the central coordinator of fleet governance and a key contributor to fleet investment decisions. This role translates complex, cross-functional inputs into structured, executive-ready outputs, ensuring alignment across stakeholders including Tech Ops, Flight Ops, Network Planning, Procurement, Guest Experience, and Finance. The role also supports fleet financial analysis and business case development as required.
This is a high-visibility position requiring strong organizational discipline, executive communication, and an interest in airline strategy and fleet economics.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Governance
- Own and manage weekly Fleet Working Team cadence, including agenda-setting, material coordination, and clear decision-oriented summaries
- Support monthly Fleet SteerCo by developing executive-ready materials and consolidating cross-functional inputs
- Track decisions, actions, and key milestones; proactively identify risks, dependencies, and escalation items
- Maintain governance artifacts such as decision logs, RACIs, and workstream trackers
- Synthesize cross-workstream insights, highlighting key themes, risks, and trade-offs for leadership
Fleet Financial Analysis (as required)
- Support financial modelling and business cases (e.g., aircraft lifecycle economics, CASM, fuel sensitivity, scenario analysis)
- Develop executive-ready analysis to support fleet selection, configuration, and retirement decisions
- Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from internal stakeholders
- Translate complex data into clear, decision-ready insights
Required
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in strategy, financial analysis, program management, or governance
- Strong written communication skills with ability to produce executive-ready materials
- Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills (deck development and financial analysis)
- Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and comfort working in ambiguity
Preferred
- Experience in aviation, aerospace, or capital-intensive industries
- Familiarity with fleet planning concepts (aircraft economics, CASM, lifecycle management)
- Understanding of cross-functional airline operations
- Experience supporting executive governance forums (e.g., SteerCo, SLT)
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
