Associate Counsellor (RCC)
Nightingale Counselling
Most counselling roles look good until your calendar drops off.
At Nightingale: $100K+ stability, a full caseload, T4 benefits, and real clinical support. Apply for a real career.
A note from the founder
When we started Nightingale, we had a simple hypothesis: happy, supported counsellors do better work.
Not in a vague way — in a very practical one. If you’re not stressed about finding clients, managing paperwork, making a real living, building a business, or working in isolation, you can actually focus on the person in front of you.
Most private counselling roles are a gamble that you can’t get a fix on until year two. Good split, great flexibility. But you hope the clients show up, and the extras are taken care of, or that you don’t burn out alone in a home office.
So we built the clinic around that idea — counsellor-first, as a way of delivering better care. It’s slightly backwards logic, but it turned out to be right and it ended up being a win across the board — for the counsellor, the client, and the clinic.
I’m looking for very strong counsellors who aren’t interested in ‘piecing something together’ and want to commit to helping people in a clinic that supports excellence.
Our standard is $100K+ & total stability, in a constant learning environment. This isn’t a theoretical ceiling; it’s what our F/T staff actually earn working ~4 days a week.
- Reliable Income: Our clinicians see less than 5% income variation year-round. We’ve solved the "summer slumps" and "holiday dips."
- Full T4 Employment: This isn't a precarious contract, you get the full package: 4% vacation pay, paid sick leave, CPP & EI contributions, extended health/dental, ProD budget, and WorkSafeBC/Liability coverage.
- Built-in Volume: You don’t run a business; you work inside one that is already humming. We have the intakes, and we’ve done this enough times to know exactly how to take a strong counsellor to full and keep them there.
- You’re not working alone — busy clinic, strong colleagues, mentorship, and a Clinical Director involved in your development

The clinical environment
We practice nonmanualized therapy.
Instead of perfecting orthodox approaches, we know therapy is most helpful when it's fully aligned with the practitioner. If you want the freedom to train in, build and test the therapy that you will be best at, you’ve found a home for that.
We’re not trying to “fix people” in a few sessions. We work with the reality that meaningful change takes time — which means you need to be able to engage clients, keep them involved, and make the work worth continuing.
The tone here is direct, engaged, and not overly precious. The work matters, but we don’t turn it into something heavy or fragile.
Who this works for
People here are smart, willing to try, and committed — to their clients and to each other.
More concretely:
- You want a career that builds over time, not a side gig, not just a caseload
- You want to get better at the work year over year, even when it requires feedback and adjustment
- You’re here to do real therapy with ongoing clients, not just manage a calendar of intakes
- You take responsibility for whether the work is helping, not just providing a space and hoping
- You can think in session when things get unclear, not rely on scripts or default techniques
- You want to work around other strong clinicians, not be isolated and call it independence
- You understand what it takes to build and sustain a caseload, instead of idealizing solo practice
- You can engage clients and move work forward, not just have good conversations that don’t lead anywhere
- You can take the work seriously without becoming overly careful or precious about it
If you want to build a real career in this field — and get very good at it — get in touch.
