As WestJet continues to grow and evolve, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Technical Inventory Control team. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be driven to achieve results while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
The Technical Inventory Control team manages, coordinates, and supports inventory and logistics requests from internal and external partners across multiple operational workgroups. Safety, compliance, and customer service are central to everything we do.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to operational teams in a professional, efficient, and collaborative manner
- Represent WestJet at domestic and international locations as required
- Support a 24/7, 365-day operation to ensure aircraft tools, materials, and critical information are readily available
- Manage the movement, inventory levels, and disposition of technical and non-technical aircraft inventory while optimizing costs
- Handle and ship Dangerous Goods in accordance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations and IATA Dangerous Goods requirements
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments by air, ground, including preparation of shipping documentation (invoices, bills of lading, customs-related documents)
- Monitor and track shipments, ensuring timely delivery and issue resolution
- Analyze shipping requirements and determine the most cost-effective and efficient transportation methods based on urgency, cost, and delivery timelines
- Accurately process and maintain inventory transactions within CMTS
- Source in-network parts, alternatives, and related equipment to minimize Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations
- Adapt to changing operational priorities while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a warehouse environment, with an emphasis on inventory management and Dangerous Goods shipping as a requirement
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, statutory holidays, and overtime as required
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly and perform the physical demands of the role, including walking, climbing, lifting, and bending
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while maintaining a respectful and collaborative workplace
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Assets
- Knowledge of aviation parts and materials
- Forklift operating experience
- Understanding of customs documentation and import/export procedures
- Experience with inventory management systems TRAX/eMRO
Successful Candidates Must Be Able To
- Achieve and maintain certification in IATA Dangerous Goods and Dangerous Goods by Road
- Obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) issued by Transport Canada with 6 months of hire
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical assessment, including audiometric testing
- Provide a clear police information check and criminal record check
- Pass a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening for substances including alcohol, cannabis, illicit drugs, and other psychoactive substances
- Obtain and maintain required visas/travel documents for travel to domestic and international destinations as required
