Estimator Draftsperson

Waycon Manufacturing is seeking an Estimator/Draftsperson to support our busy engineering/project management team. This is a dual-function role combining technical drafting with project estimating, and we are open to an experienced candidate or a technically sharp individual with the aptitude and ambition to learn.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate manufacturing drawings for machining and fabrication projects.

• Support the engineering team with drawing revisions, BOMs, and documentation.

• Develop project cost estimates based on drawings, material requirements, and production scope.

• Liaise with engineering, production, and management to ensure estimates are accurate and competitive.

• Maintain drawing and document control standards.

• Assist with quoting, proposal preparation, and project handover documentation.

What We're Looking For

Experienced Candidate

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and technical drafting for manufacturing environments.

• Experience with cost estimating in a fabrication or custom manufacturing context.

• Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma or related qualification.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to read and interpret engineering specifications.

• Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Emerging Candidate

• Technically minded individual with strong aptitude and genuine interest in engineering and manufacturing.

• Some exposure to drafting, estimating, or engineering coursework is an asset.

• Detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and motivated to build a career in a hands-on environment.

• Willingness to learn SolidWorks and estimating processes with mentorship from our engineering team.
