Maple Site Solutions Inc. provides shoring and deep foundation solutions throughout Ontario. Our work includes geostructural and shoring systems such as secant and tangent pile walls, soldier piles and lagging walls, sheet pile walls, shotcrete walls, tieback anchors, rakers, struts, and related excavation support systems.
We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to help lead field operations, improve project execution, support crews and site supervisors, and ensure our projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Position Summary
The Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day construction operations across multiple shoring and deep foundation projects. This role is responsible for coordinating manpower, equipment, subcontractors, materials, scheduling, production tracking, safety compliance, quality control, and communication between the office, field teams, clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a practical, organized, and hands-on leader with strong construction experience, preferably in shoring, foundations, excavation support, civil construction, or geotechnical construction.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Project Execution
- Oversee daily field operations across active construction projects.
- Coordinate site supervisors, foremen, crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment.
- Review project schedules and ensure manpower, materials, and equipment are properly planned.
- Monitor project progress, productivity, site conditions, and construction challenges.
- Help resolve field issues quickly and effectively.
- Support project start-up planning, sequencing, logistics, and closeout.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, approved designs, and company standards.
Crew & Resource Management
- Plan and allocate labour, equipment, and resources across multiple sites.
- Work with supervisors and foremen to set daily and weekly production goals.
- Identify staffing needs and assist with hiring, onboarding, and training field staff.
- Promote accountability, professionalism, and strong communication within field teams.
- Support performance management and development of site leadership.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all projects.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety legislation, company policies, site-specific safety plans, and client requirements.
- Participate in site inspections, toolbox talks, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up.
- Ensure proper documentation is maintained for safety, equipment, training, inspections, and site activities.
Quality Control
- Ensure construction work meets project specifications, design requirements, and industry standards.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, consultants, inspectors, and testing agencies as required.
- Review site documentation, including daily reports, photos, inspection records, and quality checklists.
- Identify and correct quality issues before they become larger project risks.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Assist with developing and maintaining construction schedules.
- Coordinate mobilization, demobilization, access, deliveries, equipment moves, and site logistics.
- Communicate schedule impacts, delays, conflicts, and required decisions to management.
- Work closely with project managers and estimators to ensure operational assumptions are realistic and achievable.
Cost Control & Productivity
- Track labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production against project budgets.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Review field productivity and report concerns to senior management.
- Assist with change order identification, documentation, and support information.
- Help ensure project teams understand cost impacts of field decisions.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Maintain professional communication with clients, general contractors, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Attend site meetings as required.
- Support resolution of client concerns, site conflicts, and coordination issues.
- Represent Maple Site Solutions Inc. professionally on all job sites.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10-20 years construction experience and 5–10 years of construction operations experience.
- Experience in shoring, deep foundations, excavation support, civil construction, heavy construction, or geotechnical construction is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience managing crews, foremen, supervisors, equipment, and multiple job sites.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and site logistics.
- Knowledge of Ontario construction safety requirements.
- Ability to identify operational risks and resolve field issues efficiently.
- Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites throughout Ontario.
- Proficiency with basic construction software, email, Microsoft Office, and digital reporting tools.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with shoring systems such as soldier piles and lagging, caisson walls, secant/tangent pile walls, tiebacks, rakers, shotcrete, and related foundation systems.
- Familiarity with drilling, piling, anchoring, concrete, reinforcing steel, excavation, and temporary works.
- Experience working with general contractors, engineers, inspectors, and owners.
- Ability to read geotechnical reports and understand soil, groundwater, access, and excavation constraints.
- Strong practical knowledge of equipment planning, crew productivity, and construction sequencing.
- Experience supporting tender reviews, constructability reviews, and project planning.

Compensation
Compensation will be $ 170,000 – $ 200,000 +++ based on experience and qualifications. Maple Site Solutions Inc. offers a competitive compensation package and opportunities for growth within the company.
