Phoenix FC is one of Alberta’s largest youth soccer clubs, serving approximately 2,000 players through recreational and competitive programming. We are committed to providing positive, player-centered experiences that support development, enjoyment, and a lifelong love of the game.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and community-minded Program Director to join our team.

Position Summary

The Program Director will play a key role in the administration, organization, and delivery of Phoenix FC programs. Depending on the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications, and availability, responsibilities may include oversight of competitive programming, recreational soccer operations, and/or seasonal camps and development programs.

This position offers flexibility, with opportunities ranging from 20 to 37.5 hours per week based on availability, qualifications, and assigned responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Competitive Program Leadership

  • Provide administrative and operational leadership for the Phoenix FC Competitive Youth Program.
  • Support player evaluations, team formation, and coach assignments.
  • Communicate regularly with players, families, coaches, and club staff.
  • Assist with program planning and implementation in alignment with club objectives.
  • Support coach development initiatives and player pathway programming.

Recreational Program Administration

  • Assist in the administration and delivery of recreational soccer programs from U4 to U19.
  • Support registration, team formation, scheduling, and program logistics.
  • Coordinate communications with coaches, volunteers, and families.
  • Monitor program quality and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with special events, festivals, and community programming.

Camps and Player Development Programs

  • Organize and lead soccer camps, clinics, academies, and development programs throughout the year.
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, curriculum implementation, and participant communication.
  • Deliver on-field coaching where appropriate.
  • Ensure positive participant experience and high-quality program delivery.

General Club Operations

  • Collaborate with technical and administrative staff to achieve club goals.
  • Maintain accurate records and administrative documentation.
  • Support club events, coach education opportunities, and promotional initiatives.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional organizational culture.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience administering youth recreational sports programs, preferably soccer.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with children, parents, volunteers, coaches, and staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common administrative software platforms.
  • Evening and weekend availability as required by program schedules.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a youth soccer club environment.
  • Coaching experience within grassroots or youth soccer programs.
  • Knowledge of Alberta Soccer and Canada Soccer programming structures.
  • Experience managing volunteers and coordinating community sport programs.

Assets

  • Canada Soccer coaching certifications and advanced licenses.
  • Canada Soccer (Concacaf) C Diploma, B Diploma, or higher.
  • Canada Soccer Learning Facilitator, Coach Evaluator, or Coach Developer experience.
  • Experience overseeing competitive soccer programs.
  • Post-secondary education in sport management, recreation, education, business, or related fields.

Employment Terms

  • This position is offered as a 20 to 37.5-hour per week role, with hours determined by the successful candidate's availability and assigned responsibilities.
  • Compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, and the scope of responsibilities assigned.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a three (3) month probationary period, during which performance, suitability for the role, and overall fit within the organization will be evaluated. Continued employment is contingent upon the successful completion of this probationary period.
  • Evening and weekend work will be required during various periods of the soccer season and for special events, camps, and programming
