What you’ll do
Reporting to the Assistant Facilities Manager you will be primarily responsible for performing the day-to-day maintenance programming and services of the retail for all Discovery Co-op locations and tenants located in the Co-op Mall. Duties will include:
- Ensures daily inspections are logged of all refrigeration, HVAC, and fire suppression systems within the Discovery Co-op Mall.
- Completes daily and preventative maintenance requests for Discovery Co-op building locations by priority and in a timely fashion.
- Completes tenant improvements and repairs as directed by Management.
- Ensures the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of Discovery Co-op buildings and equipment and monitor facilities to inspect for any deficiencies that may require maintenance or repair by the team such as paint, lighting, flooring, door operations, etc.
- Provides Management with any recommendations for repairs or maintenance to the property, buildings or equipment for correction of any deficiency or elimination of hazards.
- Ensures maintenance opens the mall facilities on a daily basis. This includes providing snow removal services at the Discovery Co-operative Mall where required in winter conditions.
- Maintains perimeter security by locking all exterior doors after mall hours and arming the security system.
- Responsible for all operations of the fire panel and sprinkler systems. To be familiar with and adhere to Discovery Co-op Policies and Procedures. To live the Co-op brand every day and perform other duties as assigned

Who you are
You are looking for a career in Customer Service and Facilities Maintenance and:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Trade certification in either carpentry, electrical, or plumbing is preferred.
- Fireman boiler operation certification would be an asset.
- Facilities maintenance or trades experience preferred.
- Co-operative retail experience is an asset.
- Must have proven mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledgeable of HVAC controls and operation, fire suppression systems, building structures etc.
- Must possess ability to work independently or within a team environment.
- General knowledge of computers and skills (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Position requires heavy lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Must be capable of operating different types of machinery and equipment such as skid steer, yard tractor, forklift, pallet jacks, power pallet jacks, etc. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
