Job Summary
Tsay Keh Dene School is seeking a motivated, reflective, and community-minded Teacher to join our
dynamic school team in a remote northern First Nation community. Teachers at Tsay Keh Dene School
play a vital role not only in academic instruction, but in strengthening the safety, stability, confidence,
and long-term success of the community.
The successful candidate will contribute to a growing outdoor, land-connected learning ethos,
working alongside Elders, Knowledge Holders, and community members to ensure Tsay Keh Dene
language, culture, and ways of knowing are meaningfully and evenly integrated across programs,
both in the classroom and on the territory.
At Tsay Keh Dene School, educators are trusted not only as instructors, but as steady adults, positive
role models, and contributors to the safety, confidence, and long-term success of the community.
Our Educational Philosophy
Tsay Keh Dene School understands education as a pathway to dignity, safety, healing, and
opportunity. Learning is grounded in relationship, land, culture, and community, and supported through
trauma-informed, strengths-based practice.
Our approach is rooted in:
Trauma-informed and relational education
Land as a teacher, with learning extending beyond classroom walls
Culture as medicine, including the meaningful integration of Tsay Keh Dene language,
knowledge, and ways of knowing
Assets-based supports for students with exceptionalities, emphasizing strengths, dignity, and
belonging
High expectations for character, conduct, competence, and confidence
Educators at Tsay Keh Dene School are not expected to be perfect—but they are expected to be present,
reflective, accountable, and willing to grow alongside the community they serve.
Community Context
Tsay Keh Dene is a remote, close-knit community, located on the northern shore of the Williston
Reservoir in the Rocky Mountain Trench, north of Prince George, British Columbia. The community is
accessible by forest service road or airplane and offers abundant opportunities for outdoor living,
