About the Role
TwelveSix Services is seeking a Vice President, Finance to lead and mature the company’s finance function as it continues to grow across energy, infrastructure, power, data centre development, and corporate advisory mandates.
This is a senior leadership role based in Calgary, Alberta for a finance executive who can operate confidently in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment involving capital-intensive projects, complex transactions, project development, and strategic growth initiatives.
The VP of Finance will be responsible for financial strategy, reporting, controllership, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning. This individual will work closely with the executive team to support corporate decision-making, project execution, financing initiatives, acquisitions, and scalable growth.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical finance capabilities, commercial judgment, and the ability to build the financial infrastructure required for a growing private enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Serve as the senior finance leader for TwelveSix and act as a strategic partner to the executive team.
- Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
- Provide decision support and financial analysis for new ventures, project development, acquisitions, financing opportunities, and corporate expansion.
- Present financial performance, forecasts, budgets, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and other stakeholders.
- Support the development of financial systems, reporting processes, governance, and controls as the business scales.
Controllership & Financial Reporting
- Oversee accounting operations and ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with ASPE or IFRS, as applicable.
- Lead the external audit, review engagement, or year-end accounting process, as required.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment appropriate for a growing private enterprise.
- Build scalable financial processes and reporting structures to support future growth, financing, and potential transaction readiness.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Manage corporate treasury, cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, working capital management, and internal cash controls.
- Support financial planning for corporate overhead, project costs, transaction-related expenses, and capital requirements.
- Assist with banking, lender, investor, and external advisor relationships.
Financial Planning & Operational Finance
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning across the business.
- Develop and maintain corporate financial models, project finance models, and scenario analyses.
- Establish KPIs and dashboards to track corporate performance, project economics, revenue, margins, cash flow, and profitability.
- Work with leadership to assess resource planning, hiring plans, project budgets, and operating costs.
- Support pricing, fee structures, retainer models, success fees, and project-level economics.
Capital & Project Finance
- Support capital planning and approval processes for project development, infrastructure opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
- Build and evaluate ROI, IRR, payback, and sensitivity models for new projects, acquisitions, and investment opportunities.
- Support debt and equity financing, project finance structuring, and investor materials.
- Work with internal and external teams to assess financial feasibility, project economics, risk allocation, and commercial structure.
- Manage asset registers, depreciation schedules, and capitalization policy where applicable.
Mergers & Acquisitions Support
- Lead or support financial due diligence on potential acquisitions, asset purchases, partnerships, and corporate transactions.
- Build valuation, accretion/dilution, and scenario models to support investment decisions and deal screening.
- Support transaction structuring, negotiation, and preparation of deal materials for executive leadership, investors, lenders, or strategic partners.
- Coordinate external advisors across legal, tax, accounting, and financial workstreams throughout the transaction lifecycle.
- Evaluate joint venture, partnership, and asset-purchase opportunities, including financial, tax, and accounting implications.
- Support post-transaction integration of finance functions, systems, controls, and reporting.
Tax, Risk & Compliance
- Oversee Canadian corporate tax compliance and planning, including GST/HST and provincial tax matters.
- Liaise with external accountants, tax advisors, legal counsel, and other professional advisors.
- Manage insurance, financial risk, and financial governance matters.
- Support cross-border, transfer pricing, and corporate structuring matters as needed.
- Ensure financial practices remain compliant with applicable regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements.
Team & Stakeholder Leadership
- Build, lead, and mentor the finance and accounting function as the company grows.
- Partner cross-functionally with corporate development, project development, legal, operations, and executive leadership.
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, lenders, banks, investors, and financial institutions.
- Bring structure, discipline, and clarity to financial decision-making across the organization.
Qualifications
Required
- CPA designation or equivalent senior finance/accounting experience.
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including experience in a senior finance leadership role such as VP Finance, Controller, Finance Director, or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of ASPE and/or IFRS.
- Proven experience leading financial planning, treasury, reporting, budgeting, and controllership functions.
- Demonstrated ability to build financial models for capital-intensive, project-based, or transaction-oriented businesses.
- Experience managing external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and financial reporting deadlines.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, project finance, and business operations.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience in energy, infrastructure, power, data centres, real estate development, construction, private equity, project finance, or corporate advisory.
- Experience supporting M&A, capital raises, debt financing, or project finance.
- Familiarity with financial modelling for development projects, acquisitions, infrastructure assets, or operating businesses.
- Experience scaling private companies, professional services firms, or entrepreneurial organizations.
- Experience working with executive teams, boards, lenders, investors, or strategic partners.
