Modern has been proudly supporting the building industry on the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island, and the Lower Mainland and is the local source of quality windows, doors, and building products since 1986. Our customers include DIY, residential and commercial builders.

We are seeking a highly skilled carpenter or journeyperson with proven experience leading teams on residential and light commercial projects. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, efficiency, and mentoring others. As an Installer III, you will lead installation crews, coordinate projects, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will possess advanced carpentry and installation skills, including the ability to interpret drawings and specifications, perform precise measurements and layouts, troubleshoot complex installation challenges, and ensure all work meets quality, safety, and building code requirements. Additionally, you will possess strong technical expertise in products such as residential and commercial doors, Duradek, railings, garage doors, and other related building products.

Key Job Responsibilities

· Lead, manage, and supervise installation crews to ensure the high-quality installation of windows, doors,

garage doors, railings, aluminum patio covers, and other products in residential and commercial settings.

· Ensure installations are in accordance with applicable building codes, bylaws, manufacturer, and company

standards.

· Accurately calculate material quantities, labour requirements, and project costs.

· Installation specialist of product lines such as commercial doors, Duradek, railings, garage doors, or

other product categories.

· Work closely with the Installation Coordinator and Operations Supervisor on installation schedules and to

maintain efficient workflow to meet deadlines.

· Employ various methods of installation including cutting, framing, fastening and sealing to ensure a

sound and high quality finish of windows, doors, trim, crown, etc. in accordance to Red Seal standards.

· Conduct quality control checks, coach, and resolve any issues that may arise during the install process.

· Utilize various tools including but not limited to table saws, circular saws, mitre saws, routers, sanders

and various hand tools.

· Train, mentor, and support crew members to improve performance and skill development.

· Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to company safety policies, WorkSafeBC regulations, and

industry best practices.

· Leading by example and driving a culture of excellence while building relationships to increase customer

retention and satisfaction.

· Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:

· 7-10 years’ of previous experience in a construction, home building or renovation industry is required.

· Trade Certificate, Red Seal Certification and proven experience as Journeyman Carpenter.

· Estimating and project costing experience and ability to accurately calculate material quantities, labour

requirements, and overall project costs to support efficient project planning, budgeting, and execution.

· Leadership and team-building skills.

· Working knowledge of BC building codes.

· Excellent planning, time-management, and communication skills.

· Sound ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and project specifications.

· Class 5 Drivers License is preferred; must provide an ICBC abstract.

· First Aid, and WHIMIS would be an asset but may be provided.

· Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with customers.

Environmental, Physical & Mental Demands:

· The physical demands of this job require the employee to have good coordination and requires the ability

to lift, move, and position objects up to 45kg (100lbs), which at times, depending on weight, may require

team lifting .

· Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in various weather conditions.

· Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.

· Must be committed to working safely and adhering to all health and safety policies while maintaining safe

work environment at all times.

Total Pay Package: Competitive compensation and extended benefits plan including, health and dental available at 6 months.
