Position Overview

Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy supporting industrial projects across Western Canada. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their Burnaby office and play a key role in delivering electrical engineering solutions for mining, LNG, industrial processing, utilities, and energy projects.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects ranging from brownfield facility upgrades and sustaining capital programs to major greenfield developments. The successful candidate will remain hands-on technically while working closely with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout all phases of project delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial power distribution systems and enjoy working in a collaborative consulting environment where they can contribute to projects from concept through commissioning.

Further Responsibilities Include the Following

  • Lead electrical engineering scopes on multidisciplinary industrial projects
  • Design and develop low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations, including load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, and equipment sizing studies
  • Prepare and review single-line diagrams, electrical layouts, equipment specifications, and technical reports
  • Perform cable sizing, cable routing, and power distribution design activities
  • Develop specifications and datasheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers, VFDs, motors, and associated electrical equipment
  • Support project execution from conceptual studies and FEED through detailed design and construction support
  • Coordinate electrical engineering deliverables with mechanical, process, piping, civil, structural, and instrumentation disciplines
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and constructability reviews
  • Support procurement activities, including technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews
  • Provide field support during construction, commissioning, and start-up activities
  • Participate in client meetings and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • P.Eng. designation in British Columbia, or eligibility for immediate registration
  • 7+ years of consulting engineering experience
  • Strong experience with industrial power distribution systems
  • Experience with cable sizing and cable schedules, low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, MCCs and switchgear, transformers, motor control systems, power system equipment specification and selection, and industrial facility electrical design.
  • Experience supporting projects within mining, oil & gas, LNG, or other heavy industrial facilities
  • Experience supporting projects through studies, detailed design, procurement, construction support, and commissioning
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients
  • Ability to work independently while managing project responsibilities
