The Opportunity
Banff Centre is looking for a Storeroom Clerk who will be responsible for the receiving, storing, rotating, and issuing of food and kitchen supplies across the various food and beverage outlets on campus. This position requires someone with high attention to detail to assist the Storeroom Lead Hand and the Executive Chef.
Specific Accountabilities
- Assists with inventory and quality control
- Checks quantities with invoices, noting discrepancies or damages and brings to attention of the transporter or Chef
- Returns goods to the supplier if need arises and ensures proper paperwork is complete
- Does inventory of stock when required
- Receives and shelves deliveries when required
- Fills requisitions when received from kitchen and dining room
- Prioritizes requests to ensure smooth operation in both Storeroom and Kitchen
- Ensures the cleanliness of the storeroom, loading dock, and other work areas throughout and at the end of the shift, including; taking out garbage, sweeping floors, wiping down walls
- Assists with food preparation, such as peeling carrots and onions as needed
- Performs general kitchen duties as outlined by supervising cooks
Qualification and Educational Requirements
- Must be a self-starter, clean, efficient, punctual, shows initiative, accuracy and have a strong sense of timeliness
- Attention to detail is essential
- Computer experience is required (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, inventory software and other programs)
Special Requirements
- Candidates must be physically capable of bending, kneeling, stretching and safely lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs
- Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends
Employment Terms & Benefits
- In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.
- This position pays $20.14 per hour working up to 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule.
