Salary: $2,267.76 - $2,446.06 bi-weekly, as per the Legal Assistant 2 Classification within the C.U.P.E Collective Agreement.

Job Profile
Reporting to the Legal Administrative Services Manager and working under the direction of a solicitor, with support from the Paralegal and/or Legal Assistant 3, the Legal Assistant 2 provides legal clerical and administrative support to assigned solicitor(s) on a range of routine, varied, and more complex legal matters, with guidance as required. The role includes drafting and preparing legal documents, managing correspondence and communications, coordinating file intake and file management, and assisting with scheduling as needed. This position requires the ability to manage a high volume of files, maintain accurate records, meet strict deadlines, and handle confidential and sensitive matters with sound judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Your Education And Qualifications Include
- Legal Assistant Certificate from a recognized institution. May consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Significant related experience working in a legal setting specifically in the specialized area of law.
- Ability to work under a moderate degree of independence with great attention to detail and with sound judgement and decision making.
- Thorough knowledge of required policies and procedures, and legal terminology and processes.
- Ability to create and maintain accurate records and files in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize workloads, and manage concurrent assignments with meeting strict, legislated deadlines.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, outside solicitors/lawyers, department heads, City staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate information through various methods to multiple levels of the organization, stakeholders and the public.
- Ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive matters with tact, diplomacy and integrity.
