IT Support Specialist – Full-Time
Location: Calgary, AB
Position Overview
Blueshift Computer Technology Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. This onsite role is based in Calgary, AB, and requires a proactive individual who can troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and cloud-related issues, ensuring seamless IT operations for our end-users and client environments.
This position is ideal for a professional who is comfortable supporting hybrid environments (on-premise + cloud) and wants to grow within a collaborative, fast-moving MSP environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide efficient technical support for hardware, software, networking, and cloud-related issues via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Diagnose and resolve Windows, macOS, and Microsoft 365 issues in hybrid environments.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving LAN/WAN, VPN, WiFi, and firewall appliances.
Cloud & Microsoft 365 Administration
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
- Manage Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), including user provisioning, MFA, and conditional access policies.
- Assist with Azure-based services, including virtual machines, backups, and identity management.
- Support cloud migrations (file server to SharePoint, mailbox migrations, hybrid AD sync).
- Monitor and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 security alerts and user access issues.
System & Infrastructure Management
- Execute hardware, software, server, and network upgrades.
- Support Microsoft Server 2012 and above in both on-prem and hybrid environments.
- Configure and troubleshoot LAN/WAN technologies, including Cisco and Sophos devices, wireless systems, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Design and deploy scalable network and WiFi solutions.
Backup & Security
- Implement and manage local NAS and cloud-based backup solutions.
- Support Microsoft 365 and Azure backup strategies.
- Apply cybersecurity best practices, including endpoint protection, MFA, anti-phishing policies, and secure remote access.
- Assist with patch management and firmware updates for infrastructure devices.
User & Account Management
- Set up and manage user accounts in Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft Exchange.
- Configure and maintain Group Policies.
- Support Office 365 applications to enhance productivity.
- Provide user training to improve technology adoption and security awareness.
Deployment & Operations
- Image and deploy workstations using standardized configurations.
- Track support requests using our Help Desk system (experience with ConnectWise is an asset).
- Set up and maintain A/V systems for presentations and meeting rooms.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to address after-hours technical issues.
QualificationsMust-Have
- Bachelor’s degree, Technical School graduate, or equivalent IT experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on IT support experience.
- Advanced skills in configuring and troubleshooting Windows 10/11.
- Strong knowledge of managed switching and network infrastructure (LAN/WAN technologies).
- Proficiency in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams).
- Experience with Azure and Azure AD (Entra ID), including user and access management.
- Active Directory (AD) user management and Group Policy Management.
- Experience supporting hybrid environments (on-premise + cloud).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Server 2012 and above.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel.
Nice-to-Have
- Certifications in Microsoft 365, Azure, networking, or server technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco and Sophos networking devices.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
- Experience with cloud backup solutions (Microsoft 365 backup, Azure backup, or similar).
- Knowledge of VoIP unified communication platforms (internal or cloud-based).
- Background in endpoint security, EDR/XDR solutions, and security best practices.
- Familiarity with Help Desk ticketing systems like ConnectWise.
