Junior Accountant

THE ROLE

The Junior Accountant supports the accounting team by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions across Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP).This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to build a strong foundation in accounting while supporting internal teams and maintaining positive client and vendor relationships.

THE DAY TO DAY

  • Primarily support accounts receivable processing and AR related tasks
  • Support accounts payable processing and related tasks
  • Support and Assist with other finance related tasks (i.e. data entry of vendor invoices, employee expenses, and customer billings)
  • Perform basic reconciliations (e.g. Bank, vendor statements, credit cards)
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records in the accounting system
  • Respond to internal requests for copies of invoices or payment information
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team as needed
  • Complete tasks according to documented procedures and checklists
  • Support the finance team with any adhoc financial reporting and financial investigations

AND YOU HAVE

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be organized, willing to embrace change and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
  • General accounting knowledge obtained through experience and/or education
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and oral) along with the ability to build and foster excellent working relationships.
  • Ability to identify potential implications of actions to mitigate downstream financial impacts.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills required with an intermediate level understanding preferred
  • Ability to independently review contracts and understand the contract terms regarding project type, scope of work and invoicing terms.
