ABOUT THE ROLE

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator is a field-focused role supporting environmental compliance, monitoring, and health & safety initiatives across exploration and project activities. The successful candidate will work closely with site teams, contractors, consultants, and leadership to ensure environmental programs, regulatory commitments, and health & safety standards are effectively implemented and maintained.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8AM to 5PM.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental Compliance & Monitoring

  • Coordinate monitoring programs, including water quality, waste management, and spill prevention activities.
  • Monitor compliance with permits, approvals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records and support regulatory and government reporting.
  • Coordinate consultants, laboratories, and monitoring contractors.

Environmental Programs & Permitting

  • Assist with permitting, approvals, and compliance initiatives.
  • Assist with environmental management plans, baseline studies, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Track performance and prepare reports and updates.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and government site visits.

Health, Safety & Field Coordination

  • Promote safe work practices through inspections, hazard assessments, incident reporting, and investigations.
  • Support the development and implementation of HSE procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Assist with the review and updating of HSE policies and procedures, and management system documentation.
  • Collaborate with management, geological teams, contractors, and consultants to support responsible exploration activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Studies or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Industry Experience: 1-3 years of experience in environmental monitoring, compliance, or coordination, preferably within exploration, construction, heavy civil, or industrial environments.
  • Health & Safety: Exposure to occupational health & safety programs, field inspections, incident reporting, or safe work practices is considered an asset.
  • Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of environmental regulations, field monitoring programs, and environmental compliance practices.
  • Core Skills: Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to manage environmental and safety documentation and data.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in varied environments, including office, field, and remote-site settings, and perform physical tasks including lifting and handling up to 50lbs, standing for extended periods, and work safely in variable outdoor conditions.
  • Safety Mindset: A strong commitment to workplace safety regulations and procedures.
  • Driving Requirements: Valid Canadian Class 5 Driver’s License with a satisfactory driver’s abstract and the ability to travel regularly to remote exploration sites, including driving on resource and unpaved roads.
