Includes tool and safety equipment allowance The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
    • Inspections of all Division PAA shops for safe operation of equipment and clean air in shop environment
    • Recognize required construction maintenance and complete if necessary
    • Inspections of National Building Code, Part 9 buildings for compliancy
    • Regular inspections of playground equipment at all 20 schools
    • Inspections, replacement, recharging of fire extinguishers
    • Recognize and correct OH&S violations with facility employees
    • Maintain administrative procedures as per Board directives
    • Extensive travel throughout the division which includes 20 schools and 203 residential units
    The ideal candidate will have:
    • Journeyperson Carpenter or post-secondary certificate/diploma & equivalent experience in the Carpentry trade
    • Certificate in Science lab safety, Manlift, MSDS & Fire alarm and safety systems training an asset
    • Knowledge and expertise of Occupational Health & Safety regulations
    • Completed Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association (SCSA) Courses
    • National Building Code training course for Canadians
    • Experience with Workplace Safety or Risk Management
    • Experience with dust collection systems as well as air purification systems would be an asset
    • First Aid & CPR training
    • Valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple/competing priorities
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
    Working Conditions
    • 8 hours per day
    • 12 months per year
    • Extensive travel throughout the division and province
    • Ability to travel northern roads under adverse conditions
    • Overnight stays in various communities as required
