Walker Law is a diverse, dynamic, and award-winning commercial litigation law firm located in the heart of Toronto’s financial district. We specialize in delivering cost-effective legal solutions for a wide range of litigation disputes, including employment, contract, and real property matters.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Law Clerk with a minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or collaboratively. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft pleadings and file court documents through the e-Civil filing portal.
  • Prepare, revise, and proofread correspondence and legal documents.
  • Schedule and coordinate examinations, issue notices of examinations, and draft client prep letters.
  • Organize and review client documents, identify missing materials based on pleadings and client-provided information, and prepare Affidavits of Documents.
  • Order transcripts, draft undertaking charts, and assist with providing answers to undertakings.
  • Prepare mediation briefs, pre-trial briefs, and assist with trial preparation, including issuing summons and preparing joint books of documents.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in a relevant field (e.g., Legal Assistant, Law Clerk, Paralegal) with a minimum of 7+ years of experience in commercial litigation.
  • Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and general court processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, GhostPractice, ACL.
  • Familiarity with Dropbox, Adobe, Docusign, Zoom, CaseCenter and a willingness to learn new applications.
  • Research experience with CanLii and/or Westlaw is an asset.
  • Strong typing skills (75–80 WPM) and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proactive in identifying and addressing urgent issues.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime when required.
