The Role

To support effective clinical care by providing an efficient Health Records service to patients in a ward environment, ensuring that patient health records are administered accurately and remain confidential. The post holder will also provide cover in multiple wards as required and undertake duties such as reception of patients, answering telephones, appointment booking, and maintaining demographic information on the patient management system.

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Part-time, Permanent

Base location: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, with the expectation that the post holder may be moved to any location across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (GGC). The role involves covering multiple wards as needed.

Shift Pattern - Monday: 06:45-14:30/30, Tuesday: 06:45-14:07/30

Salary is Pro Rata for part-time posts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reception duties, including greeting and receiving patients
  • Answering telephone enquiries
  • Booking appointments
  • Maintaining accurate demographic information on the patient management system
  • Ensuring confidentiality and accurate processing of patient health records
  • Providing ward cover across various hospital areas when required

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Previous clerical/reception experience is essential
  • Experience working with the general public in a customer‑service environment
  • Good organisational, keyboard, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computer systems
