Manager - Trading, Operations, and Portfolio Analytics
Viewpoint Investment Partners
About Our Firm
Viewpoint Investment Partners Corporation is a Calgary-based boutique investment manager built out of Viewpoint Group’s family-office platform and opened to outside investors to deliver institutional-quality public-market strategies. Our core business is the design, management, and implementation of pooled funds and separately managed accounts for institutions, family offices, and other sophisticated investors. We are independent and family/employee owned, which allows us to build investment solutions with a long-term allocator mindset and a high degree of alignment with the investors we serve.
Our investment platform is grounded in systematic research, disciplined implementation, and total-portfolio thinking. We use quantitative research and portfolio construction tools to build liquid, rules-based strategies across global asset classes, currently spanning multi-asset, commodities, and equity income solutions. Rather than organizing our work around traditional relative-return mandates, we focus on risk allocation, capital efficiency, diversification, factor exposures, and implementation quality to create portfolios that can serve a specific role in an investor’s broader allocation.
Viewpoint has continued to expand beyond its original family-office roots. In addition to our pooled fund and institutional SMA business, Viewpoint Private Wealth provides discretionary portfolio management and open-architecture wealth solutions for private clients.
Across the firm, we value authenticity, curiosity, intellectual humility, and evidence-based practice. We operate with an entrepreneurial culture and believe the best investment organizations combine rigorous research, strong controls, effective technology, and high-quality human judgment.
Our Team
Our research and investment process is built to move from model design into live portfolio implementation with consistency, judgment, and control. The trading and investment operations function is a crucial bridge between portfolio management, research, compliance, counterparties, custodians, administrators, and the markets themselves. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring Viewpoint’s pooled funds and institutional separately managed accounts are traded, allocated, settled, reconciled, and monitored accurately across increasingly complex instruments and markets. There may also be overlap with Viewpoint Private Wealth where trading, custody, model delivery, or operational workflows intersect. The successful applicant will be expected to own this function day to day, help scale the platform through automation and process improvement, and develop into a broader resource for portfolio managers over time.
Core Responsibilities
This role is primarily focused on the trading and operations needs of the firm’s pooled funds, institutional accounts, and private client accounts. There is further room for growth as an analyst and generally on the portfolio management side.
§ Own the day-to-day trading and investment operations workflow across Viewpoint’s pooled funds, and separately managed accounts (both institutional and private client)
§ Execute trades across ETFs, equities, fixed income, derivatives (futures, listed options, forwards and swaps), foreign exchange, and other instruments used by Viewpoint’s strategies.
§ Understand market structure, liquidity, settlement conventions, transaction costs, and counterparty nuances across asset classes and global markets.
§ Exercise appropriate judgment and discretion in trade execution, balancing model intent, liquidity, timing, transaction costs, risk limits, and operational constraints.
§ Maintain and improve order generation, trade allocation, order management, execution, matching, settlement, and reconciliation processes.
§ Monitor cash, margin, collateral, financing, and liquidity requirements across pooled funds and separately managed accounts.
§ Coordinate with prime brokers, futures clearing merchants, custodians, fund administrators, brokers, and other counterparties to resolve operational issues quickly and accurately.
§ Oversee communication of trading activity, trade files, cash movements, and operational instructions to administrators, custodians, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
§ Support daily NAV oversight and resolve trade, pricing, cash, position, and reconciliation breaks in a timely manner.
§ Maintain trading, broker commission, best execution, CSA/collateral, and oversight reporting for compliance, management, and investment committee review.
§ Partner with Compliance and Operations to compile trading oversight data, regulatory filings, and internal control evidence.
§ Identify opportunities to automate, systematize, and improve trading and operations workflows, with a bias toward scalability, error reduction, and straight-through processing.
§ Work with portfolio managers and research to fine-tune trading rules, implementation assumptions, rebalancing workflows, and post-trade analytics.
§ Provide analytical support to the investment team over time, including exposure monitoring, implementation analysis, transaction cost analysis, portfolio diagnostics, and ad hoc research support.
§ Potential to develop into client-facing Associate PM role over time
Required Qualifications

§ High attention to detail and the ability to own time-sensitive operational processes in a live-market environment.
§ Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with comfort working in Excel and/or python and data-heavy workflows.
§ Curious about automation and AI, with the ability to use modern tools responsibly to improve process quality, control, and efficiency.
§ Sound judgment, integrity, and willingness to escalate issues early when execution, operational, or compliance risks arise.
§ Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with portfolio managers, compliance, operations, external counterparties, and, over time, clients.
§ Entrepreneurial mindset, ownership mentality, and desire to grow with a scaling investment platform.
§ CFA Charterholder, CFA candidate, or demonstrated interest in the CFA program.
§ Completion of the Canadian Securities Course, Derivatives Fundamentals Course, Futures Licensing Course, or other relevant CSI courses.
§ Coding, data, or automation skills, including Python, SQL, VBA, Power Query, Power Automate, APIs, or AI-enabled workflow tools.
§ Experience with futures, listed options, OTC derivatives, FX forwards/swaps, collateral management, prime brokerage, or futures clearing workflows.
§ Demonstrated experience executing and/or supporting trades across multiple asset classes, with a strong understanding of market structure and execution quality.
§ Experience in systematic, quantitative, multi-asset, global macro, risk parity, volatility-targeted, or ETF-based strategy implementation.
§ Familiarity with institutional SMA trading, portfolio rebalancing, model delivery, client-directed restrictions, or tax-aware implementation.
§ Interest in developing into a broader investment role, including analytical support for portfolio managers and selective client-facing responsibilities.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
