POSITION TYPE TERM, FULL-TIME
Reporting to the Downtown Ambassadors Manager, ambassadors connect and provide on the street customer service and support for all downtown businesses and members of the public by answering questions, promoting Downtown Winnipeg BIZ programs and services and businesses we serve.
Our ideal candidate has a passion for Downtown Winnipeg, enjoys connecting with people, and loves going the extra mile to provide outstanding customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as an on-street concierge, answering questions regarding businesses, directions, parking, and events.
- Provide courtesy walks, escorting individuals to their destination downtown.
- Promote the Downtown BIZ events, programs and downtown businesses.
- Assist with Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and third-party events and programs.
- Provide support for the execution and growth of BIZ initiatives.
- Build positive relationships with BIZ members and identify solutions to address concerns.
- Assist with new member onboarding and orienting members to the services offered by the BIZ.
- Assist in the distribution and collection of BIZ surveys and promotional material.
- Audit and verify business statuses and update the database.
- Report safety, cleanliness or infrastructure concerns.
- Address minor cleanliness issues and perform graffiti removal as needed.
- Assist with day-to-day BIZ operations, such as covering the reception area and helping with other programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to engage and connect with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Comfortable learning and using digital tools for documentation, reporting and data collection.
- Knowledge of Downtown Winnipeg is considered an asset.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Salesforce is an asset.
- Having a valid Class Five Drivers’ License is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Available to work days, evenings, and weekends as required.
- Ability to work in an active environment, both indoors and outdoors, involving frequent walking between locations and regular movement throughout the workday.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods of time as required by operational needs, events, or on-site activities across the BIZ.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
- Sufficient physical stamina and mobility to perform a combination of walking, standing, and light to moderate manual tasks, including in varied weather conditions.
- Regular interaction with the public, including occasional challenge interactions; ability to maintain calm, respectful, and professional conduct.
- We currently have a limited number of permanent positions. We are hiring for a term position ending on December 18, 2026, with the possibility of extension and the potential to transition into a permanent role.
