About The Opportunity

Our Public Sector client is seeking one Intermediate Communications Consultant to support the development and execution of a new strategic communications plan, helping ensure effective two-way communication between organizational leadership and a large, distributed operational community.

The successful candidate will support internal and external communications, public affairs coordination, web and social media content, publications, video/audio products, and related communications deliverables in both English and French.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop a coordinated and integrated strategic communications plan
  • Support the development of mission, vision, and key messaging materials in consultation with leadership and stakeholders
  • Liaise with internal public affairs and communications stakeholders to ensure communications activities align with applicable policies, procedures, and approval processes
  • Provide communications advice and content review for internal and external communications products
  • Support accurate messaging on public affairs, internal communications, media relations, and stakeholder communications matters
  • Build and maintain working relationships with communications, public affairs, government, partner, and industry stakeholders, as required
  • Prepare and/or review written communications materials, including speeches, briefing notes, news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, placemats, newsletters, journalistic articles, and related communications products
  • Write, design, develop, edit, and maintain web, intranet, and social media content
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations and other visual communications materials
  • Support the design and publication of print and online communications products
  • Develop and maintain communications reference materials, including glossaries, acronym lists, and related terminology resources
  • Attend meetings and prepare meeting minutes, records of discussion, or records of decision, as required
  • Review, prepare, produce, edit, and publish audio/video communications products, including short videos, recordings, podcasts, transcripts, and related materials
  • Prepare and submit communications deliverables in both English and French
  • Maintain an organized electronic library of work in progress, delivered items, review comments, and version-controlled materials
  • Prepare monthly progress reports documenting activities completed, outstanding items, issues, recommendations, days/hours charged, and approved travel costs, where applicable

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Experience developing at least one strategic communications plan within the last thirty-six months
  • A minimum of twelve months of combined experience, obtained within the last thirty-six months, designing and developing websites and social media
  • A minimum of twelve months of combined experience, obtained within the last thirty-six months, designing print and online publications
  • A minimum of twelve months of combined experience, obtained within the last thirty-six months, producing and editing videos of at least one minute in duration
  • Experience performing duties related to public affairs or communications functions for a government organization at the federal, provincial, or municipal level
  • Experience as a primary or significant contributor in the development of written communications, which may include news releases, speeches, fact sheets, backgrounders, questions and answers, and media response lines
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Publisher, or other web and print design tools
  • Experience using Microsoft Publisher for web and/or print design
  • Experience using other web and print design tools

About The Job

  • Contract duration: 3 years (240 days per year)
  • On-site in the National Capital Region or Remote
  • Security: Reliability clearance required
