Role and Responsibilities

• Contract & Design Review: Perform technical reviews of customer contracts, specifications, and drawings to identify potential product or manufacturing risks. Participate in design development and status meetings with clients.
• Design & Engineering Analysis: Conduct research, perform engineering calculations, and create custom technical designs for nuclear components that align with client needs and internal production capabilities.
• Manufacturing Support: Develop comprehensive manufacturing process plans, including bills of material (BOMs), drawing packages, and weld/braze designs.
• Project Management: Plan and oversee project scopes, tracking progress reports, design proposals, prototype manufacturing, environmental qualification, and final data package submissions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Applications, Quality, and Production teams to ensure proposed designs are feasible, cost-effective, and fully compliant with nuclear safety standards.
• Problem Solving & Optimization: Investigate mechanical failures, troubleshoot active production issues, and assist the manufacturing team in developing tooling, equipment, and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.
• 5+ years of engineering experience within the nuclear sector or a similarly highly-regulated industry.
• Prior exposure to nuclear instrumentation systems is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance frameworks and nuclear regulatory requirements.
• Must have hands-on experience working within a custom fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with industry-specific design standards, specifically ASME, IEEE, and 10CFR-related codes.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software: SolidWorks / AutoCAD.
• Excellent technical communication and presentation skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent design projects under tight timelines.
• Analytical problem-solving mindset with an eye for identifying product risks.
