Welder plays a key role in delivering high‑quality fabrication and installation of mechanical systems across our Edmonton projects. They work closely with field teams, supervisors, and project partners to ensure all welding activities meet Modern Niagara’s safety, quality, and productivity standards. Success in this role means precise workmanship, reliable execution, and strong collaboration on every job site.

Key Impact / Purpose
- Deliver high‑quality welding and fabrication that meets project specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
- Support field teams by completing work efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with Modern Niagara processes.
- Contribute to predictable project outcomes through safe work practices, attention to detail, and proactive communication.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fabrication on mechanical systems including piping, structural supports, and related components.
- Interpret drawings, blueprints, and welding procedures to complete work to specification.
- Conduct welds using SMAW, GTAW, and/or GMAW processes as required.
- Inspect welds to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Collaborate with forepersons and field teams to sequence work and resolve issues.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
- Follow all Modern Niagara safety protocols and participate in toolbox talks and hazard assessments.
Must Haves
- Journeyperson Welder (Red Seal preferred).
- Experience with SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding processes.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and welding procedure specifications.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced construction environment.
Nice to Haves
- Pressure welding experience (B‑Pressure certification).
- Experience in mechanical contracting or industrial construction.
- Confined space or elevated work platform certifications.
- Familiarity with pipefitting or mechanical installation.
This is a new position. Union Rate.
