The Panel-Line Supervisor under the direction of the General Manager, Modular and Fabrication, is responsible for executing a highly effective plant safety program, maintaining a dynamic team building environment, and achieving production and quality targets. Supervising the production team in fabricating wall, roof and floor panels.

Responsibilities

Quality & Results Accountability

  • Maintain industry leading quality across all product lines. Ensure product quality is aligned and consistent across all production shifts.
  • Accountable for achieving production targets and quality expectations - from the point of raw materials to manufactured products.
  • Ensure production of quality products in alignment with Kalesnikoff’s world-class standards.

Production & Operations Management

  • Manage production to ensure customer schedule requirements/deliveries are achieved.
  • Maintain a detailed production schedule that aligns with project and customer expectations.
  • Optimize plant equipment and operations flow to achieve quality standards and efficiencies.
  • Observe production and highlight opportunities to gain efficiencies through cost reductions, recovery opportunities and improving work environments.
  • Provide assistance in planning the production cycle in order to set and achieve optimal production targets.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Grow the operations team through coaching, training and performance feedback.
  • Coach and educate team on work tasks like framing, sheeting, membranes and insulation.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • Analyze and improve operational process and workflow, employee, and space requirements; implement changes.
  • Report on production achievements, and KPIs being tracked.
  • Development of Safe Work Procedures, SOPs, and other operating documents, to ensure consistent products, and transfer of knowledge.
  • Data tracking.

Technical & Production Support

  • Assist in inventory management, as it relates to production roles. Consuming tags, shipping material, and reviewing what material is available for use.
  • Creating production documents, run instructions, etc. and providing specific instructions to appropriate group to facilitate smooth operation of the facility.
  • Understanding CNC equipment and operations.
  • Determine machining operations, the sequence in which machining operations must be carried out, and the time required to finish the job to efficiently manufacture the product.
  • Note discrepancies between blueprint specifications and test products as they arise and provide resolution through program adjustment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose common CNC problems together with the CNC Team to optimize the process.
  • Extract information out of CAD-files.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, in collaboration with the Safety Department, initiating corrective actions.
  • Understand and follow Building Code requirements.

Other

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in construction, manufacturing carpentry or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role in manufacturing, preferably industry related
  • Completed apprenticeship Carpenter or cabinetmaker
  • Red Seal ticket is an asset
  • Larger scale commercial carpentry framing skills
  • Experience with CNC machines is an asset
  • Experience in wall panel prefabrication
  • Knowledge and experience working with carpentry tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of wood manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous scheduling and payroll experience is considered an asset
  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office programs
  • Proven history in safety excellence
  • Software skills in CAD/CAM software are an asset
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams while maintaining a safe and respectful work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with others with sensitivity, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism in all situations
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning

Work Conditions

  • Overtime as required.
  • Occasional exposure to dust and fumes.
  • Exposure to industrial noise, moving equipment, and overlapping work-zones.
  • Exposure to safety lockouts and access to equipment.
  • Requires frequent stooping/bending/crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 75 or more lbs.
  • Ability to hear, and talk, occasionally on radio in an industrial setting.
  • Occasional climbing and carrying.
  • Occasional support for weekend shifts might be required.

Compensation Package

  • Salary: $87,200.00 - $109,000.00 (Dependent on experience)
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday
