Quality Assurance / Quality Control Manager
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards, ensuring it is
effectively monitored, evaluated, and continuously improved
- Establish and enforce quality policies, procedures, and best practices across all phases of construction projects
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to employees, acting as an advisor to resolve quality-related issues and meet project schedules
- Conduct internal and external audits to verify compliance with regulatory, contractual, and company requirements
- Recommend updates to policies and develop procedures that enhance organizational quality performance
- Analyze complex quality issues using data and industry trends to support decision-making and continuous improvement
- Oversee the inspection, testing, and verification of materials, components, and construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), lead root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders to uphold quality standards throughout the supply chain
- Deliver training and mentorship to project teams on quality standards, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and compliance records
- Implement and monitor statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools to drive performance improvements
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and field teams to proactively address and resolve quality concerns
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business unit and corporate objectives
Educational And Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Assurance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in QA/QC roles, including at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity
- Previous management experience with a mid- to large-sized general contractor; experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of construction trades, techniques, and sequencing across various project types
- In-depth knowledge of local, provincial, and federal compliance regulations, including OH&S standards and Building Codes
- Certification in ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) is considered an asset
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, transit, or complex construction projects is preferred
