Metrolinx’s CEO office is looking for a Senior Manager and Advisor to the President and CEO . As a senior leader within the Office of the CEO, you will act as a trusted advisor to the Chief of Staff and the CEO, providing strategic leadership across enterprise priorities, government relations, executive operations, and stakeholder management.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will play a pivotal role in aligning organizational strategy with government direction, ensuring effective decision ‑ making, accountability, and execution across Metrolinx.
What will I be doing?
Executive Leadership & Strategy
Act on behalf of the Chief of Staff and Office of the CEO at internal and external meetings, including providing executive direction and coverage during absences.
Provide strategic advice on capital and operational initiatives, enterprise transformation, policy development, and major programs (e.g., GO Expansion).
Lead special projects and enterprise‑wide initiatives, managing cross‑functional teams through all project phases.
Develop and oversee governance processes, reporting frameworks, and accountability mechanisms aligned to corporate and government priorities.
Government & Stakeholder Relations
Serve as the primary liaison between the Office of the CEO and government partners, including the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Infrastructure, and other ministries as required.
Monitor and report on government directives, approvals, and Treasury Board submissions.
Anticipate, assess, and manage high‑profile or contentious issues with political acuity.
Build strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders, Infrastructure Ontario, and external stakeholders.
Executive Operations & Communications
Ensure timely, accurate information flow between executive leadership, project teams, and stakeholders.
Provide leadership over enterprise‑level briefing materials, issues notes, Board and executive committee reports, and in‑camera documentation.
Oversee CEO internal and external communications, including town halls, staff meetings, government announcements, and speaking engagements.
Coordinate messaging and responses for emerging or sensitive issues in collaboration with Communications & Community Engagement.
People Leadership & Office Management
Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team within the Office of the CEO, including Senior Advisors and managers.
Set priorities, manage performance, support development planning, and address employee relations matters in alignment with policy.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and resilient team culture aligned with Metrolinx values.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
Establish streamlined processes for briefing, approvals, and government engagement.
Promote a strong project management and risk‑aware culture across the organization.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Education
University degree in Business Administration, Public Policy or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience
Proven experience providing executive‑level support in complex organizations.
Experience managing high‑volume correspondence, executive briefings, and sensitive information flow.
Experience working with senior executives, Boards, and government stakeholders.
