Canterbury is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machine Operator 3, Advanced Packaging Operator, to join our manufacturing team. This is an expert-level role responsible for operating and optimizing advanced packaging systems, including single-serve equipment and complex Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) machines.
This role is ideal for a highly skilled operator who takes ownership of production performance, enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, and is passionate about quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
As a part of the Manufacturing team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient packaging of products to meet all production schedules and product quality specifications. You will also be responsible for conducting on-line quality checks to ensure finished product meets all product specifications for proper packaging material, net weight, seal integrity, labelling, case count and palletizing.
You have
- Post-secondary education or GED required
- Experience in food manufacturing or high-speed packaging environment
- Previous experience with SQF, HACCP, GMP and safety programs
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work with complex machinery and multiple SKUs
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
What You’ll Do
Advanced Machine Operation
- Operate single-serve systems and advanced VFFS packaging equipment
- Run complex packaging formats including quad seal, gusseted, valve, and specialty packaging
- Maintain stable, efficient production across multiple SKUs
Setup & Changeovers
- Perform full advanced machine setups including film threading, print registration, and valve systems
- Optimize changeovers for speed, consistency, and minimal waste
Quality Control
- Ensure packaging meets strict quality standards for seal integrity, weight accuracy, and appearance
- Lead on-the-floor quality corrections when issues arise
Troubleshooting & Optimization
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and process issues such as film tracking and seal failures
- Reduce downtime, scrap, and variability through proactive adjustments
Production Performance (OEE Ownership)
- Drive overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), throughput, and waste reduction
- Continuously improve machine performance and line efficiency
Leadership & Training
- Support and coach Machine Operators Level 1–2 on equipment operation and setup
- Assist in training new team members on packaging systems
Continuous Improvement
- Partner with Maintenance and Quality teams on equipment improvements and trials
- Contribute to process optimization and innovation initiatives

Schedule
- 8-hour shift
- 6:30 am – 3:00 pm
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
