Responsibilities
- Lead and manage bridge and highway structural design projects, applying 15+ years of experience from preliminary design through to detailed design and construction.
- Oversee the analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and transportation-related structures in accordance with applicable standards.
- Supervise and coordinate the production of design drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) (mandatory).
- Lead design processes using software tools such as AutoCAD and Microstation.
- Conduct site inspections and fulfill contract administration duties during the construction phase.
- Review contractor shop drawings and ensure quality control.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors to support project success.
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred).
- Minimum 10–15+ years of experience in structural engineering with a strong focus on bridge and/or highway design (mandatory).
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License.
- Extensive experience in designing concrete, steel, and wood structures.
