Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems and equipment in a manufacturing/industrial environment. The ideal candidate will perform preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and ensure systems run safely and efficiently to minimize downtime and support production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, and repair industrial electrical systems, motors, controls, and wiring according to schematics and codes.
- Perform routine and preventative electrical maintenance on production equipment, switchgear, panelboards, motor control centers, PLCs, and VFDs to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults using appropriate test equipment and implement effective corrective repairs.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and prioritize repairs to restore production while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals to execute work accurately.
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs and variable frequency drives in collaboration with automation technicians.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, complete work orders, and report on parts, labor, and system performance.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, company safety programs, lockout/tagout procedures, and NFPA 70E standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams on continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrades.
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and participate in shutdowns and planned maintenance projects.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certificate or journeyman electrician license preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as an Industrial Electrician or Maintenance Electrician in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting.
- Proven experience with electrical preventative maintenance programs and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Strong knowledge of motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, switchgear, and industrial power distribution systems.
- Proficient with electrical troubleshooting tools (multimeter, insulation tester, clamp meter) and ability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and safe work practices.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and respond to on-call emergencies when required.
- Physical ability to lift equipment, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
- Good communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and teamwork.
- Valid driver's license; additional certifications (e.g., PLC programming, arc flash analysis, welding) are a plus.
